Asahi Super Dry "Staycation"
The Problem
In the U.S., Asahi Super Dry was still perceived as a “specialty” import—something reserved for niche occasions rather than an everyday choice.
For the brand, the challenge wasn’t just awareness. It was shifting perception: from occasional to essential, from imported to integrated.
This was especially critical in culture-forward markets like New York and Los Angeles, where younger, premium drinkers define themselves less by demographics and more by their interests, tastes, and subcultures.
To win, Asahi needed to show up not as an outsider to culture—but as something embedded within it.
The Strategy
We anchored the campaign in a key cultural truth: today, identity is shaped by interests—and deepened through real-world experiences.
Rather than marketing to broad demographics, we focused on culturally curious consumers who build their identities through food, nightlife, fashion, and fandoms—particularly those connected to Japanese culture.
We positioned Asahi Super Dry at the intersection of interest and experience, showing how it elevates the moments people already love.
This came to life through a hyper-local, influencer-led approach rooted in real neighborhoods—Little Tokyo and Dodgers Stadium in LA, and St. Marks and the East Village in NYC.
Our “Asahi Staycation” concept reframed the product as a cultural portal: creators curated insider guides to Japanese-inspired experiences in their own cities, with Asahi as the thread connecting it all.
The content wasn’t stylized advertising—it was immersive, social-first storytelling designed to feel native to how culture is actually discovered and shared.
By embedding the brand into lived experiences, we transformed Asahi from a product you try into one that naturally belongs—an easy, everyday premium beer that fits seamlessly into the moments that define you.
